Best Live Performer?

People always seem to argue over who is the best live concert performer and if you want to win any argument like that, then your answer would be Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Bruce is a man that devotes his life to making his fans happy and leaving his show with a thrill they can’t get anywhere else. When it comes to putting on a concert, Bruce has an energetic vibe that makes the Energizer bunny look like a slacker. Rolling Stone magazine listed him as number 1 on the Best Live Acts lists, saying “Bruce Springsteen brings high levels of energy like of a sugar hied kid, has amazing stamina and the Jersey Shore look to top it all off.”

One of the most important skills Bruce has to be a great performer is he sincerely interacts with his fans. There is not a current performer besides Bruce that will risk his safety every night, to crowd surf and leave the crowd in awe. He brings up to the stage people of all ages, from toddlers to the elderly. There are many other ways Bruce shows love to his fans, even if you aren’t lucky enough to get on stage such as; giving out his guitar picks, holding fans' hands, and taking song requests from the crowd.

Springsteen fans truly are the best people I have ever met. Being able speak to them is wonderful and exciting every time because it’s finally a chance talk to a person who understands me and my love for Bruce. This is another reason why Springsteen concerts are so fun, you all share at least one common interest and that’s Bruce and his music. You can’t start a conversation without a spark and that spark is really easy to light a Springsteen show.

Bruce is one of the best songwriters in rock and roll history. He uses his art of song to touch the hearts of millions, and express his opinions on the world around us. After the police shooting of Amadou Diallo in 1999, Springsteen wrote a song called American Skin (41 Shots) with lyrics such as “You can get killed just for living in your American skin” makes Bruce’s performance of this song very emotional for everyone in the audience. I heard this song live on August 28th, 2016 and after a full summer of police shootings and riots, it made you feel the tension and chills in the arena. Bruce makes you think about the lyrics you're listening to. Born In The USA is one of the most popular songs he has written and also explains my point. There are a lot of misconceptions about this song. A lot of people see BITUSA as a patriotic song that is played while your dad is flipping burgers and grandma is singing along at barbecues on the 4th of July. However, if you analyze the lyrics enough you can tell that it’s main goal was to be a Vietnam War protest song. There are other songs that connect to middle class Americans, which people we all know, including ourselves can relate to. In recent news, Springsteen has spoke very strongly against President Trump, saying that "We are the new American resistance" and the new policies and executive orders that are being made are anti-democratic and un-American.

Springsteen is such a positive influence and role model to millions. The great storytelling skills Bruce conveys in his concerts make you feel like he’s talking right to you. He is a legend in every aspect of the word. You have not lived until you have seen him in concert. It will definitely change how you view other performances because nothing matches the level of greatness that Bruce and his E Street Band have accomplished over and over again. So next time you see Bruce, an extraordinary 67 year old rocker come into town, grab your ticket and your suitcase. You can thank me later.
